Dry Red Chili
1 tsp
Fenugreek Seeds
2 tsp
Urad Dal
1 1/2 tsp
Salt
6 tsp
Coriander Seeds
1 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds
1 Piece
Mace
1/2 tsp
Asafoetida
1 Piece
Star Anise
10 Pcs.
Black Pepper
2 tsp
Chana Dal (Split chickpeas)
1 tsp
Red Lentils / Masoor Dal
12 Pcs.
Curry Leaves
Sambar Masala
  1. Prepare all the ingredients (use sun dried ingredients).
  2. In heavy bottom pan add Coriander seeds , Dry red chili and curry leaves. Dry roast it for 7-8 minutes on a slow flame.
  3. Remove it from flame. Add all other ingredients except salt and asafoetida. Dry roast it for 10 minutes.
  4. Keep it aside for 15 minutes add salt and asafoetida. Grind it to a smooth powder. Store it in a airtight container.
  5. In boiled dal add vegetables and sambar powder as required. Enjoy it.
